a world w/o nerds wouldn't sound as good as ours
the happy mondays are good. while erik was in town we went to 24 hr party people, which was a really fun movie. i odn't really like new order, and i only like joy division a little, but the movie was great, and the happy mondays song the movie is named after is too.
also brian eno is great. he has a song called king's lead hat that is about david byrne. also it is great. in the talking head's book i read, they mention how eno and byrne kind of split b/c david thought he was stealing his ideas. i think that could be true. brian ferry should probably be pissed, too, since eno does a lot of his vocal things. whatever, heads, eno, roxy music all sound good.
speaking of sounding good, i'm writing a song called "prog rock sounds like rock." b/c it does. here is what i have so far:
a rock doesn't have to be a stone
a rock doesn't have to be on grass
rocks don't fly first class, oh no
a rock doesn't have to be a stone
king crimson can kiss mine
hearing all the people at the last gbv show saying "dude, this is totally prog!" has made me hate the word 'prog,' but also it made me do some searching around and i am pleased to report that emerson, lake and palmer is the shit! seriously!
